On The Move?

The Latest News

The Public Inquiry is now over and out of it we seem to have found the perfect solution for insomniacs! The Inquiry evidence from Broadland District Council can be found on their website at the following URL

www.broadland.gov.uk/broadland/council.nsf/pages/localplaninquiryevidch76.html

if you've got an hour or two to spare or as we said earlier are find it difficult to sleep. This address is almost as long as the main document which goes on to conclude in Para 8.2:

Relocation map

"The Inspector is requested to recommend that no change be made to the Revised Deposit version of this plan except as follows:

  • add the phrase "except in accordance with a specific policy or allocation of this plan" to the end of the first sentance in Policy HOU6"

What this means in reality is that Broadland District Council are sticking to their proposal that the football club should be relocated to Salhouse Road along with some community land and housing will be allowed on our existing site and part of Salhouse Road behind the former Policeman's house. The Inspector will now go away for several months and decide whether he supports the views of Broadland DC or if he is convinced by any of the arguments put forward by objectors.

Don't assume that even if he supports the proposals that we have a clear run to start building. We then have to apply for planning consent and probably have to supply traffic analysis statistics AND apply for grants from the football funding bodies and others. As Fakenham FC have found out recently unfortunately this is a waiting game!

One other club in a similar situation to us are Arnold Town who have recently won a planning application appeal following a Public Inquiry into their proposed relocation. If we haven't got you to sleep yet have a look at www.arnoldfc.com to get an idea of the process an Inspector goes through before arriving at a decision.

Finally if all goes well and we get planning consent and grants we may then see development like that currently taking place locally at Bungay Town www.bungaytownfc.org.uk and of course at Kirkley FC who now have some excellent facilities, www.kirkleyfc.co.uk

As part of the process to help towards grant application we have successfully attained Adult FA Charter status thanks mainly to the hard work of our Deputy Chairman, Tony Dickerson. The plaque, which we received at the Norfolk Senior Cup Final, can be seen behind the bar in the Trafford Park clubhouse.

If anyone feels able to assist in any way to towards achieving our goal, please contact club secretary Chris Green on 10603 783936 or email secretary@wroxhamfc.com.
