Ridgeons League Premier Division
Tuesday 15th December 2009

Referee : Tim Moffat (Colchester)

We arrived at Needham to find the pitch white with frost and again a changed side due to Howes, Gilmore & Spriggs all unavailable.

Wroxham started well and Needham were soon under pressure. In the 10 min cPaul Cook had a very good chance to put the Blues ahead when Bulman put through a nice ball into the box and Cook had only the keeper to beat but his shot went stright into the keepers hands.

Needham were now getting more into the game and had a couple of corners that came to nothing. In the 25 min Wroxhah had another wonderfull chance to go ahead-with a good three man move and Gavin Lemmon beat the off side trap with only the keeper to beat who was off his line like a rabbit to block Lemmon's shot.

Wroxham were having most of the play at this stage but the Needham defence were standing firm.

Needham came out to start the second half- and really piled on the presure for about 20 mins having 3 corners and a couple of free kicks in the blues half but Carus, McNeil Challen and Pauling were all having an outstanding game and weatherd the storm.

It was now Wroxhams turn with Lemmon and White in fine form trying to feed Cook up front who was being marked out of the game by the Needham defence. The same thing was happing at the other end with hex-Wroxham playet/manager Damian Hilton being tracted by Challen who gave him no room to move.

Wroxham were going forward in numbers in the last ten mins and had 3 quick corners which resulted in Lemmon having a chance when he hit a 25 yarder that looked a goal all the way but the keeper made an outstandig save to rob wroxham of a win they truly deserved.

This was an excellent game to watch allthough the last two games have seen no goals; it was not because the comittment was not there wroxham could not have have done any more or worked any harder then they did in these last two games.

Needham are an inform team at present and there wont be many teams who come away from Bloomfields with a clean sheet.

We look forward to having Wisbech at Trafford Park on Saturday weather permitting!
