Wroxham 1,
Dereham Town 1

Ridgeons League Premier Division
Tuesday 3rd November 2009

Referee : Jerry Kelly (Stalham)

Attendance : 130

In the last of the four meetings between the two sides this season it was apparent that the players knew a little too much about each other and a draw was a fair result in a mostly uninspiring game.

Wroxham started off weel and for the first twenty minutes had Dereham on the back foot without creating any clear chances.

The game sprung to life on 20 minutes when Wroxham thought they should have had a penalty when Ollie King was bundled but referee Kelly dismissed the appeals even though the Dereham keeper admitted to the behind the goal clan that he couldn't beleive it either.

Wroxham continued on the offensive with Dereham counter attacking with Beuamont prominent when they did get forward.

Wroxham then gained a corner and the ball was lost when it was played short allowing the visitors to break quickly and a long cross field ball reach Nicky Howells who outpaced Josh Carus to get in a first time shot that looped over Scott Howie to land in the far top corner to give Dereham the lead.

This boost for the visitors changed play as they became a bit more adventurous with the Wroxham defence looking a bit shaky as passes went astray.

HT 0-1

Confidence seemed to wain from the home side as they fail to penetrate the visitors defence with Olliie King working alone up front and it looked like a change was need. It came with Paul Cook replacing Danny White. Wroxham then started to get forward with a header from Martin McNeil going close and King brought down the ball well but his shot was just over.

Steve Spriggs was lucky to stay on the pitch but he look the most likley outlet and he scored the equaliser on 75 minutes. The ball was worked across the area and eventually released for Spriggs to fire in an excellent shot across Higgs into the bottom corner.

It was a job to see where a goal was coming from but when it came the game livended up again with both sides going for a winner. Gavin Lemmon shot over for Wroxham but Dereham had the best chance when Graham Barrett was clean through and Howie pulled off an exellent save to deny him and a follow-up which the Wroxham keeper saved off his legs.

Dereham brought on ex-Wroxham player Ben Latimer for the last few minutes. But Steve Spriggs had the best chance when his pace got him past a defender to get in a blistering shot which Higgs parried. The game closed out with a draw a fair result on the night.

Full report to follow.
